The Oohlas Words By Courtney Muir Sometimes in order to keep things interesting, the best thing to do is change it up a bit. That’s exactly what former Everclear drummer Greg Eklund (guitars) did by forming his new band alongside his kid brother Mark Eklund (bass) and friend Olivia Stone (guitar/ vox). The Oohlas, whose name resonates with its fans, offers up a unique sound that steps outside the current trends of today. “Sometimes like in Vancouver, Canada the place was full before we even went on and I don’t know if they had ever heard of us or not, but by the end of the night they wanted an encore. So we’re still sort of in the beginning stages on these tours because these aren’t headlining shows. We’re just trying to go out and play and just sort of show people what the bands about and show them that we like to have fun. Hopefully have people react to that and then remember our names so when we come back around again they will come see us at our own show."
Considering Greg Eklund has ten years experience under his belt, it would be assumed that the second time around would be easier knowing what is effective in getting a band's name out their but surprisingly Eklund admits that it’s not.

"I'm a big rock star, I got a beautiful girl, and they still call me a fag. Its' like high school never ends - the jocks are always on top. " (Jonathan Davis of Korn - Origins Unknown) |
